on entitlement reform on spending cuts. >> well, that's right. president obama believed and the democrats believe they have a mandate after the election. now, a mandate, you know, depends what you call a mandate. the election was not really close, but it wasn't also a grand slam for the democrats either. so there's a real difference in who -- what the mandate is here. and democrats don't feel they need to compromise. i think they think if we go over the fiscal cliff, they will have even stronger negotiating power. that remains to be seen because oftentimes when taxes go up and there is something that hits the economy really hard and puts it into a tailspin, it's the president who takes the blame. so i think even the president is wondering who's going to foot the blame for this one. but at this point i think the democrats feel they have the upper hand at this moment. if they hold tight, they will force the republicans to capitulate. i don't see that happening. i think both sides are really going to have to give in before we get a final deal. jon: so we'll have to see, you know, which side wins the

little storm over the weekend. let's take a look outside. dry in baltimore right now. 42 >> late breaking details out of washington from the white house. we heard from a very frustrated barack obama after a meeting with congressional leaders to talk about the fiscal cliff. he said it was a good day and constructive conversation. he also said mitch mcconnell and harry reid are currently working on a bipartisan agreement to avoid the fiscal cliff. again a reminder, on january 1st, a package of across-the- board spending cuts and tax increases go into effect. the president also issued an ultimatum saying if no bipartisan agreement can be reached, he will ask them to bring it package to the floor for an up or down vote. why does everyone have to wait until the last minute? he called this a self-inflicted political wounds. it is because they could not reach a deal earlier this year. we will have more tonight at 11. now we will lighten the mood a little bit here to talk about the soft shell crab sandwich. that's quite a sad way. it may become the first state sandwich. -- that's quite a segue. i

of those details right that people can buy into the show. barack obama is not watching the show because it's a brilliant portrayal of the c.i.a. it gets enough of the details what it feels like to be in those situations. i have no idea why i like the show -- the think it's less about details. michael described it as it's not a palemic and i think audiences smell propaganda but if you can introduce the complexity of what they do.
